History of Opera Grows in Brooklyn
Opera Grows in Brooklyn premiered in March 2009 at Galapagos with the idea of putting Brooklyn on the map as a breeding ground for contemporary operatic work. The first performance was an immediate success. Presenters performed to a sold out crowd and have continued to do so at subsequent performances in July and December. Timeout has called OGB a 'vital series' and Curator Blog called it 'a benefit to the city'. The series has grown into a quarterly event with engagements at Galapagos scheduled throughout 2010.
