Bass Mark Sampson has gained recognition and received reviews as an outstanding singing actor with a rich voice and an engaging wealth of sound.
Roles from Mozart and much of the Lyric Bass repertoire, ranging through Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini, to more dramatic Verdi roles have filled Mark’s recent years. His portrayal of Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte was broadcast on Television in Germany in 2008.
Despite his young age, Mark has sung across North America, and Europe, and has founded several opera training institutions, including the active Vancouver Summer Opera Workshops; he is also the co-founder of Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.
Operatic ambitions come paired with other interests, and for Mark, this entails either views from atop mountains, or foraging for fine cuisine in the countryside.
